Sooooo big!

A short comparison post:  This is Matilda when we brought her home from the hospital. Note where her head is on the headrest.
Tiny! Angry! Also in a cute bear pjs suit...

And here she is at about 4.5 weeks
She may not be plumping up very quickly, but look! She grew half an inch from when we brought her home vs. her one month appointment. Woooo! Her little legs are longer too.

She's awake and not crying...

I finally snapped a pic of her cute face doing something other than sleeping. I think this is maybe half way between a yawn? There was lots of tongue action that occurred in the minutes before and after this picture. I know that every baby is cute, but when I see MY baby being this cute, it's almost too much for me to handle!
Matilda will be 4 weeks old tomorrow! My, how time flies...

More from the three-week birthday!

When Eliza visited on Friday we took some great pics of her holding Matilda. They didn't get put into the previous post. Whoops! So here they are. (See, it allows me to look like I'm a really prolific blogger. Woo!)

Eliza is super-excited to be photographed with Matilda. And Matilda is...sleepy. She was also pretty excited, trust me.

Sleeping Baby

A cute, sleeping almost-4-weeks-old Matilda to get you through Wednesday. I'm always surprised at how different she looks sleeping vs. awake. Her face is so expressive when she's up and wiggling about...I will try to get some awake pictures one of these days...

The little flannel pad under her is from the Norton family. Thanks! Babies are leaky and these little pads are super-helpful....

First trip to the Fort!

Stu gave his "Fort Fever" off season talk today at Fort Ticonderoga. It was an interesting look at the landscape--got to explore the redoubts around the Fort, amongst other things. Matilda and I went to help with registration and then walked around for the first 2/3 of the tour. She did so well- slept most of the time, as she is wont to do. The weather was great, sunny, chilly (but not too cold), a little windy--but a great, clear day for walking the grounds.

Here I am in the restroom in a classic baby-wearing pose:

Stu, being all authoritative and interesting--for a crowd!

Three Weeks Old!

Matilda turned three weeks old on Friday! Hooray!

She has started (in the past few days) making more non-crying noises. It's pretty great. I can't wait until she can talk, though I know that will be AGES from now...

Our friend Eliza came over and hung out. We had an easy afternoon and went for a walk, too. It was almost 70 degrees out, a warm front ahead of a cold front on the weekend.

A week of Firsts!

Last week was a week of firsts! We had our first family outing (not to a medical appointment).

Dinner at The Shoreham Inn last Sunday.

She did pretty well, all things considered. I had to get up and walk her several times, but who needs to eat uninterrupted? I think we were thwarted because we tried to go right before her regular bedtime. Maybe next time we'll go after she's down for the count. Fortunately, the Inn was not very crowded on Sunday night, so I don't think we bothered too many people. Thanks to Molly (Inn owner) for coming to the rescue with camera batteries--mine died right as we were trying to take the pic!

If you're every in Shoreham, you should definitely eat at The Shoreham Inn. Or stay there. It's a bed and breakfast, too.

On Wednesday this week, I took Matilda to the library with me for the first time. I needed to pay bills and do a little library work. She slept in her moby wrap and met some patrons and volunteers for the first time. Here's me, full-service, public librarian...now with baby attachment. (For added cuteness).

We also went to the Lap-sit storytime program at the library on Thursday. This program is one I run, usually with stories, songs, rhymes, and generally hanging out, the second Thursday of the month for infants and toddlers ages 0-3. This month (and next) it was just a playgroup, since I'm technically on maternity leave. We had a small group, but it was a nice crowd. I also got to see three 2-year-olds who I helped play a co-operative, impromptu, turn-taking game. These kids are the best--I love it!

Matilda, of course, slept in her Moby wrap the whole time. Soaking it all in, I'm sure....
