The Grandparents Lilie!

Grandpa Lyle and Grandma Elizabeth came up to visit the day after we got home from the hospital. Look how much little Matilda has grown since then! Some very proud grandparents and some great shots of Stu being a new dad...

  Grandpa Lyle

Grandma Elizabeth. I love this one. Matilda looks so bright-eyed and interested.

A sleepy new baby...

And me being a new mom: very tired and still very puffy from delivery.

Crazy Uncle Matt and (not crazy) Aunt Miranda

Stu and I are both only children, so our child will have a whole host of aunts and uncles that are selected by inclination, rather than birth. Here are two of them!

Crazy Uncle Matt
Oh my goodness, I love this picture. Matt is super excited. Baby is super angry. But not because of Matt. There was a diaper issue...

Aunt Miranda looks good with a sleepy baby.

A better one of Uncle Matt and the babe...the perfect accessory for spring!

The Grandparents Adams!

My folks have been here this week on main baby-holding duties. Grammy-Nammy and Grandfather Jay are super-enamored of Matilda (no one is surprised!)

Matilda also met Grandpa Lyle and Grandma Elizabeth the day after she got home from the hospital. But they took pictures and I wasn't on my game for taking them on my camera. So, I'm...*ahem*...awaiting those photos (which will get their own posting).

Awww, this one is totally adorable. My dad is so into being a grandfather.

Baby wearing!

Now that we've passed the one-week mark, I can begin to slowly resume my normal level of activity. (Or at least A normal level of activity...maybe not MY normal level...) So, today, we are baby-wearing for the first time! Woo! It's pretty great--I can type with two hands (and do lots of other things that take two hands) and baby Matilda seems pretty content being smushed into a Moby wrap. All in all, it's a lot like being pregnant again, but instead of being nauseated and horribly uncomfortable, I feel pretty good. Hooray!

Over the shoulder selfie shot.

Milk Coma...

Ah, milk coma. When you're so full of milk that all you can do is sleep with your mouth open.

Or, when you're so tired and you've just fed your baby into a milk coma that you do the same thing....

One week old! (Two days later...)

I tried to update this yesterday, but Google was not having it. Our baby girl was one week old on Friday! It's been a busy first week...trip from the hospital, trip to the hospital, trip to the pediatrician, meeting new friends and neighbors...Everyone is hale and healthy and doing well.

This is a pretty typical scene in our house...baby and mama on the couch.

Meeting our neighbor, Brie. Our social little baby...Thanks for dinner, Brie!

Meeting the contingent from New York--we celebrated her first week with an impromptu gathering. Thanks for dinner, Layne! Shaun and Cam were also here, but sadly I didn't get any photos with them.
   Joel holds a toddler...

Aunt Layne.

And, yes, Joel's giant thumb is the same size as Matilda's foot.

And lastly, I leave you with this ridiculous photo. I was badgering Stu to "look adoringly at his daughter" for the camera. This was the face he came up with. I think genuine adoration looks a little better. Hah!

Matilda has found daddy's nose...Good job, baby!

The Tiniest Bear Goes Back to the Hospital

One of the nice things about Porter Hospital in Middlebury (where we went for labor and delivery) is that they have a complimentary visit 48 hours after discharge. This way, you can go in with your list of questions and concerns, get your little one checked over, and generally get some feed back in those early days. It was very reassuring.

Matilda continues to be great; not yet gaining weight, but she hasn't lost a ton.

The title of this post comes from these adorable pictures:
 Tiny bear!
Thanks to Stephanie, Jamie, and Henry for the hat.

I swear her eyes are the same size...

As Stu said, "I know why people keep taking pictures of newborns when they're asleep...when they're awake, they're usually crying..." Apparently, Matlida was not pleased by the fact that the temp had gone down to 34 today. It was a balmy 52 degrees when she came home the first time.

After our first outing, there was some napping...
